I just had lunch at Salumi’s (in Seattle, WA). It was amazing! The food was great, and we sat across from the owner during lunch and had some wonderful conversation. When I left, I told her I was going to tell everybody in my office how great it was. And I did.
I just told EVERYBODY, but….
Great ideas and great products don’t just spread on the Internet, they spread in real life too. Make sure that your meeting, event, fundraising, recruiting, etc. is ALL worth talking about… but then, you HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL!
My first co-worker I talked to about Salumi’s asked me where it was… OOPS, I forgot the cross streets. And here is where the breakdown occurs. If, when I was at Salumi’s, I told the owner that I was going to go tell everybody, and the owner gave me business cards to hand out, I would pass them out. Or even a magnet to put on the office fridge. Or, better yet, if I received a discount for lunch, the next time I went, I would bring my co-workers with me…
After you make something remarkable… make it easy to talk about and share. Ideas spread on the Internet because you just have to click to share it. In-person recommendations are harder to share… but they mean more. What are you doing to help it spread?
